TOFU- POPS: A TASTY AND HEALTHY VEGAN SNACK

Protein-Rich Tofu Pops: A Tasty and Healthy Vegan Snack

Today, I’m excited to share a delightful recipe contributed by one of my readers, Shri from Haryana.

Who doesn’t enjoy a tasty snack with a cup of hot tea? Let’s create a snack that’s not only delicious but also healthy for children. These protein-rich Tofu Pops are perfect for the occasion.

 

Ingredients

• 200 grams firm tofu
• 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
• 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
• 2 green chillies, finely chopped
• 1 tablespoon ginger, finely chopped
• 2 tablespoons grated coconut
• 1 onion, finely chopped
• 1/2 teaspoon degi red chilli
• 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
• 1 pinch asafoetida
• Salt to taste
• 1/2 cup bread crumbs
• 2 tablespoons flour
• Fine vermicelli
• Oil for frying

 

Method for Preparing the Mixture

 

1. Grate the tofu and place it in a mixing bowl.

2. Heat one spoon of oil in a pan. When the oil is hot, add fennel and cumin seeds and fry them. Then add chopped green chillies and fry for half a minute.

3. Add chopped ginger and fry for a while. Then add grated fresh coconut and fry for a minute. Add chopped onion and fry on low flame until it becomes transparent.

4. Add degi mirch, turmeric powder, and asafoetida, and fry a little. After mixing the dry spices, add chopped coriander and mint leaves, and mix well. Turn off the heat and add salt to taste, mixing it well.

5. Cool the mixture slightly, then add it to the grated tofu. Mix well with hands and add bread crumbs as needed for binding. Make small balls of this mixture and keep them aside.

 

Recipe for Making Tofu Pops

 

1. Take the flour and divide it into two parts. Keep one part dry. Add salt and black pepper powder to the other part, and make a thin batter by adding water.

2. Coat each ball in dry flour first, then dip in the prepared thin batter, and coat with vermicelli from all sides.

3. Heat oil in a pan. Fry all the coated balls on medium heat until they become golden brown. Crispy tofu pops are ready. Serve them hot with ketchup or chutney.

 

These Tofu Pops are not only a treat for your taste buds but also a nutritious snack that packs a punch of protein.

They are perfect for children, providing a healthy alternative to typical fried snacks. Plus, they are versatile and can be served at parties, as an evening snack, or even as an appetizer for a meal.
